I attended and facilitated a Youth Convening recently at which the focus was a brainstorming on how Uganda’s youth can be assisted. 
If one had just a US dollar to hand out, how or where would be best to employ it sustainably for a youth project?
There is more to worry about than just the statistics available on youth unemployment or even the growing numbers. Ubos executive director, Ben Paul Mungyereza, confirms the census shows that majority of Ugandans are youths: about 22.5% of the population are 18 to 30 years old, nearly seven million are between 15 and 24 years old at which age many begin working. In addition, up to 50.3% of Ugandans are 15 years old and below.
The concern is that a large number of youths have not benefitted from the so-called ‘shaping’ institutions like family, church, further study, etc.  So, there are children outside the traditional mentoring systems that ar...
